About Kenzie

efore orientation, I was most nervous about making new friends. Most of my friends from home I had known since elementary school, so I wasn’t sure how to meet new people in a completely new environment. During orientation, I started talking with a girl in my group, and we quickly realized we were both feeling the same way. We decided to stick together, exchanged numbers, and kept in touch over the summer. When we returned to Pullman, we reconnected and became good friends. That experience showed me how easy it can be to connect with people who are in the same situation, and now I feel much more confident putting myself out there and meeting new people.

My orientation was a bit overwhelming at first with a new place, new people, and a lot of information all at once. However, my orientation leader had a lot of energy and was very encouraging, which helped me feel more at ease. As I got more comfortable, I started asking questions and learning from her personal experiences, which made the transition feel much more manageable. It was reassuring to talk with someone who had already been through the same process, and overall, I ended up really enjoying orientation and my time at WSU Pullman.

When I first started at WSU, I was a Biochemistry major. While I found the subject interesting, I realized I wasn’t as passionate about it as I thought I would be. After struggling in a few classes, I spoke with my advisor and career counselors, who helped me explore my options and take advantage of campus resources. With their support, I decided to switch my major to Sociology, and I’m excited to begin my new classes this fall. The guidance I received made the transition much less intimidating and helped me feel confident about my new path.
