What is Spring New Coug Orientation?

New Coug Orientation is a required program for all new students attending spring semester. During your one day orientation program you will attend college presentations, engage in student life activities, and learn about campus resources. You will be placed in a small group of other new Cougs guided by an Orientation Counselor who is a current WSU student. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, make new friends, and fully immerse yourself in being a Coug in Pullman.

Before you arrive for Spring Orientation, you will need to review the Pathway to Course Registration Modules and meet virtually with an academic advisor to register for classes.

Steps to Complete Virtual Advising:

  1. Confirm your enrollment at WSU.
  2. Sign-up for Spring New Coug Orientation.
  3. Complete the Pathway to Course Registration Modules. **
  4. Schedule your advising appointment between Tuesday, November 12 and Friday, December 20. ***
  5. Register for the classes discussed with your advisor.

Registration for Spring New Coug Orientation will open on Tuesday, October 1.

Session Dates

Spring Family and Supporter Opportunities

Families and supporters will be unable to attend Spring New Coug Orientation alongside their student, however they are invited and encouraged to join us for a virtual orientation session. The virtual session will addresses the family role in supporting students at WSU by going over campus resources, frequently asked questions, and more.

Families and supporters accompanying their student to campus for move-in are welcome to participate in a campus tour. If they are looking for accommodations while assisting your New Coug with move-in, they can explore the many hotel options in the area by visiting our travel information website.

Families of new students registered for Spring Orientation will receive more details via email.

Before your advising appointment:

  • Have unofficial transcripts on hand from all previous and current college level coursework.
  • Be ready to discuss transfer credit and your academic plan.
  • Take any necessary placement assessments.
