Adult, Transfer, & Veteran Orientation

We recognize the educational and professional experience you have gained is valuable, therefore you are eligible to attend a one-day orientation program. We will place you together in a group with students who share your interests, goals, and questions.

We want to ensure we are supporting your successful transition to WSU. In-person orientation is required of all new students to WSU, including transfer students and student veterans.

Adult Students, Transfer students, and student Veterans have three options for how to complete the New Coug Orientation requirement:

  1. Experience #4 x New Coug Orientation | Saturday, March 28 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is the only opportunity for in-person academic advising and highly recommended.
  2. Transfer Orientation | Day 1 of any June or July New Coug Orientation session.
  3. August Orientation | Express one-day sessions coinciding with move-in and Week of Welcome.

Who is eligible?

Adult Students: Students who will be 25 or older by October 10, 2026.

Transfer Students: Any student with 27+ college semester credits or 40+ college quarter credits after high school graduation is considered a transfer student at WSU.

Student Veterans: Active duty, honorably discharged, and Veterans.

Experience #4 x New Coug Orientation

Option 1: Experience #4 x New Coug Orientation

This program is highly encouraged for all transfers and student Veterans. Please plan to be on campus for the entirety of the program to earn credit for completing orientation and to complete in-person academic advising.

As part of this program, you will complete advising and course registration in-person during the Experience x New Coug Orientation program! Registration fees are not due until the first day of class.

Before arriving for the event, please follow these steps:

  1. Confirm your enrollment at WSU.
  2. Register for Experience WSU #4 on Saturday, March 28.
  3. Complete CougReady Step 1.*
  4. Identify an exception for or take any required placement assessments.
  5. Review your Transfer Credit Report (TCR) in MyWSU.

*CougReady Step 1 will become available to students registered for Transfer and Student Veteran Orientation early in March 2026. Access and directions will be emailed to you. CougReady Steps 2 and 3 will become available in July and August.

Other requirements:

  • Attendees must participate in the College Kickoff for their college during Week of Welcome.

Option 2: Transfer Orientation

Transfer orientation is an express one-day program offered on the first day of each New Coug Orientation session in June and July.

All students attending August orientation must complete an advising consultation and course registration appointment remotely, online before arriving for orientation.

Before arriving for August Orientation, please follow these steps:

  1. Confirm your enrollment at WSU.
  2. Register for an August New Coug Orientation session.
  3. Complete CougReady Step 1.*
  4. Identify an exception for or take any required placement assessments.
  5. Review your Transfer Credit Report (TCR) in MyWSU.
  6. Schedule and attend a remote, online advising consultation and course registration appointment.*

*CougReady Step 1 access and details to schedule your advising consultation will be emailed to you in early May. CougReady Steps 2 and 3 will become available in July and August.

Option 3: August Orientation

August programs are express one-day programs focused on supporting international students, transfer students, student Veterans, and students who are unable to attend an immersive summer program in their transition to WSU.

August programs do not include Family & Supporter Orientation programming and guests cannot be accommodated. Supporters of students attending August orientation sessions are encouraged to take advantage of the summer webinar series.

All students attending August orientation must complete an advising consultation and course registration appointment remotely, online before arriving for orientation.
