About Lauren

I was really excited to meet new people and start building a community for myself at WSU. I was also looking forward to learning about the many opportunities on campus, including clubs, research, and other ways to get involved. At the same time, I felt a bit nervous since it was my first real experience being away from my family and becoming more independent.

During orientation, I made a couple of friends in my group that I still talk to today, two years later, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We spent most of the day together, exploring campus and getting comfortable with everything. I also remember getting a lot of helpful information throughout the day and ending it with fun activities like volleyball, where I met even more new people.

I am currently majoring in Biochemistry with a focus in Molecular Biology and recently added a Chemistry minor. Over the past year, I’ve been involved in a research lab and even presented my work, while also stepping into leadership as a club president. I also joined a dance class with no prior experience and found a new community through it, and I’ve started volunteering to gain hours for my pre-med path. Overall, WSU and the Pullman community have offered me many opportunities to grow academically, socially, and personally.
