About Lexi

When I committed to WSU, it was a very last-minute decision. It wasn’t until just a few days before May 1st (National College Decision Day) that I decided I wanted to attend Pullman, across the state from where I had lived my whole life. Before orientation, I felt nervous about making such a big move, especially being five hours from home and not knowing anyone from my high school who was also attending WSU. At the same time, I was excited for the opportunity to branch out, become more independent, and start figuring out who I am on my own.

I attended a late July summer orientation session, which made me even more excited to officially start at WSU just a few weeks later. It was incredibly helpful in easing my concerns, and my orientation leader answered many of my last-minute questions that I didn’t even realize I had. Having that support made the transition feel much more manageable and helped me feel more confident about coming to campus.

Since arriving at WSU, I have changed my major four times, eventually landing on Human Development with a concentration in Lifespan Development, where I finally feel confident in my path. I am still on track to graduate within four years, and I’ve also become more involved on campus through employment, volunteering, and participation in multicultural events. These experiences have helped me grow both personally and academically while building a stronger sense of community at WSU.
