About Sam

Before orientation, I was really excited to meet new people and start getting involved on campus, but I was also very stressed about finances and how I would pay for school. I wanted to make friends and join clubs, but I wasn’t fully confident in talking to new people yet, which was something I knew I would need to work through.

My orientation experience ended up being really great. I met a lot of people—some of whom I’m still friends with today—and learned more about campus life and the support systems available here. It helped WSU start to feel like a second home for me, which was one of the biggest reasons I decided to stay after transferring. Overall, I really enjoyed orientation, and my orientation leader played a big part in making it such a positive experience.

I am currently majoring in Management Information Systems. I serve on the Black Student Union cabinet as Treasurer, where I help organize events and support the Black community on campus. I also work at the area desk, which has helped me connect with more people in the WSU community.
