About Emi

When I first came to Washington State University, I was nervous because I was very far from home and my closest friend was an hour and a half away from me. I came as a transfer student from Bellevue College in 2024 and did not know anyone at the time. I didn’t realize that I would find one of my closest friends on the first day of orientation that would last a lifetime! I was nervous that I was going to get lost while I was on campus and when I was trying to find parking, that nervousness only increased. It wasn’t until I saw a group of NCO students that I felt a little bit calmer that I was in the right spot. So handy tip: if you’re lost, just look for a large group of people and someone will get you to where you need to go!

My Orientation experience was pretty fateful. On the first day, me and one of my soon-to-be best friends got lost. As we were wandering around the campus looking for our group, she and I got to talking. A year later, she and I would end up being roommates and doing a lot of things together. But during my Orientation, I felt very overwhelmed and hot. It was tiring. But one thing I do remember is how much I laughed during those two days. I felt welcomed by both the new transfer students and my Orientation Leader, making my first day here at WSU a little bit easier since I knew a couple people here already.

When I first transferred into WSU, I was in the Elementary Education Major. However, just recently I switched my major to a History Degree with a Certification in Secondary Education, where I focus primarily on students grades 6-12 with a content focus on history. I currently work at the Starbucks at the Spark, so come and say hi when you visit! I am also a part of the brand new Future Teachers Club that meets on Wednesdays, so come and see us! I plan to graduate in Spring 2028, and hope to teach somewhere on the West Side. Where? Only the road knows!
