Alcohol, Drugs, & Safety

Alcohol & Illegal Substances

Alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited for students during the New Coug Orientation program regardless of age. New Coug Orientation students are required to follow WSU’s policies relating to alcohol and drugs, which prohibit the use, possession, distribution, or manufacture of alcohol, cannabis, or illegal substances.

For the duration of the summer, all alcohol, cannabis, and drugs are prohibited in the Stephenson Complex facility for guests and participants. If a student is in the presence of a potential alcohol or drug policy violation, they must leave the area immediately or they may be held responsible for violating WSU policy.

New Coug Orientation participants and guests, regardless of age, who choose to violate this policy, will jeopardize their continuation with the program. Violations will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and may result in conduct action for students. Instances of use or possession of cannabis and illegal drugs will be turned over to the local law enforcement agency.

Emergency situations

In case of a fire alarm, remain calm and exit the building by the nearest available stairwell. DO NOT use the elevators.

Stay well away from the building (100 yards or more), until entry back into the building is cleared by fire, police, or building officials. If a fire alarm occurs in the Stephenson Complex, the designated meeting area is the lower Crimson Lot behind Stephenson South Hall.

Safety equipment

Individuals found tampering with life safety equipment including fire alarms, fire hoses, fire extinguishers, elevator emergency buttons, and sprinklers, will not only jeopardize their continuation with the program, but may also face felony charges.
